The Optical Distribution & Manufacturers Association of Australia Ltd (ODMA)

ODMA is the peak body of wholesalers, manufacturers, and importers of optical products in Australia.

ODMA’s mission is to strengthen, support and grow the optical industry for the benefit of its members.

ODMA members constitute the majority of the wholesale optical industry in Australia ie. prescription spectacle lenses, optical frames, sunglasses, sight testing equipment etc.

ODMA provides a variety of services including:

  • organisation of major industry trade events

  • publication of the Quarterly Eyetalk Reference Guides

  • publication of the annual Lookbook Magazine as well as Equipment and Supplier Guides

  • coordination of networking functions

  • provision of tips and resources for those wishing to start their own Independent Optometry Practice, advocacy

  • Involvement with Industry Standards

  • allocation of scholarships - since 2008 the Optical Distributors and Manufacturers Association of Australia Ltd (ODMA), as part of its commitment to independent practitioners, has made scholarships available to encourage and promote Optical Dispensing as a career

Optometry Victoria South Australia (OV/SA)

Optometry Victoria South Australia (OV/SA) is a not-for-profit organisation that exists for the benefit of community eye health and optometry in Victoria and South Australia. We help our members to advance clinical expertise and refresh their professional curiosity. We maintain an active conversation with relevant decision-makers across the South Australian and Victorian State Governments, representing the evolving needs of our members and fostering the advancement of eye health and optometry through advocacy and legislative channels. Everything we do is guided by our diverse, vibrant membership of the vast majority of optometrists practicing across South Australia and Victoria. Our local initiatives are driven by our members through consultation and participation in our Board and committees. Our current focus is articulated in Optometry Vic/SA’s strategic plan, and we cooperate with national initiatives via our membership of Optometry Australia. The World Council of Optometry (WCO) is an international membership-based non-profit organization for individual optometrists, industry professionals and optometric organizations that envisions a world where optometry makes high quality eye health and vision care accessible to all people.
